Camping in WA is often the best way (and sometimes the only way) for spending the night in a place. There are numerous caravan parks and space is almost always available even in peak periods. It is also usually the cheapest option. One major drawback of many Caravan parks is that they are just that, Caravan parks. They do allow for tents, but consideration for that form of accommodation is not great. As in most large cities and towns camping is unsurprising on the outskirts, making your own transport almost a necessity. Many sites also have on site vans for hire (approx. $25-$40)
Camping out, "in the bush", in National Parks or in fact anywhere has to be a highlight of Western Australia. In national parks it costs just $5 per person. In the outback there is no need even for a tent. Many tour operators in Western Australia advertise this as a feature of their tours. If you have any doubts about camping in the outback, but would like the experience, this is perhaps the best option since the guides will have the experience and knowledge to put you at your ease.
