The Pinnacles Desert
An eerie natural phenomenon, caused by erosion over thousands of years. They were originally thought to be the remains of an ancient city by the Dutch who first arrived on the shores of the Western Australia. One of the best times to visit the pinnacles is sunset, when the shadows cast and the changes of colour are spectacular. The only draw back is the number of cars driving around them at this time. To avoid the crowds, early morning is the best time. Full Moon over the Pinnacles is also a great spectacle. Sit it out and wait for the dawn and you will truly get a appreciation of the place. There are also plenty of animals hopping and crawling about in the Nambung National Park in which the Pinnacles are situated. There are great sand dunes in the area. Many of the tour operators covering the Pinnacles also take you sand boarding - not to be missed!
